Detailed Collar

Attention to detail, whether it takes the form of an accessory, an embellishment, a beauty trend, or an article of clothing, can make all the diffence in taking an ensemble from "blah" and "wow".  Stand-out collars, either ornately decorated, in notable shapes, or in contrasting colors, are one little attention to detail that packs a lot of punch. A stand-out collar can deliver the "wow" to an ensemble in it of itself.

I first noticed "Peter Pan" collars gaining popularity a couple summers ago, and since then, have seen stand-out collars taking on a whole new role on runways, street style blogs and fashion blogs alike, becoming a popular trend fast, and in some cases, taking center stage when such attention to detail cannot be ignored.

What to look for when looking for a stand-out collar:

Embellishment:

To work a little glam into an outfit, go for an embellished collar. A little sparkle or beading takes these three pieces from ordinary to stunning. Any of these picks below are desk to dinner ready. Keep in mind when wearing the embellished trend, that jewelry and accessories are very minimalistic as the collar is elaborate enough.

The rounded corner shape that launched the stand-out collar trend goes by the name of "Peter Pan", and has a very sweet yet polished look to it, like an adult that never never grew up...

Contrasting Color:

Make a statement with your collar by choosing one that is in a color that contrasts or pops against the body of the shirt or dress.

Illusion Effect:

Try the trend on a variety of different styles already in your wardrobe by wearing a collar shaped necklace! Pair it with anything from a crew neck tee, to a classic shift, or wear it alone with a strapless top or dress and let the necklace be just that, a necklace! Gotta love versatility.

Will you be trying the stand-out collar trend? Which way are you most likely to wear it?
